English: A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of Roman date. The fragment is a rim sherd from a Huntcliff Calcite-gritted ware vessel. The fabric is dark greyish-brown in colour with a hard but smooth texture. Abundant calcite inclusions are present which are heterogeneous in size though sparse in quartzite.

No kilns are known, but an east Yorkshire source is indicated on distributional grounds.
