DescriptionReopening of Broadway station on the Astoria Line (46856565102).jpg
MTA New York City Transit reopened the Broadway station on the Astoria (N, W) lines on Thursday, January 24, 2019, after a major station repair and modernization project. NYC Transit is in the process of repairing and modernizing every station on the N and W lines in Astoria, from making repairs to the station structure to enhancing signage and entrances so that they are clearer, brighter and more informative for customers.
MTA Arts & Design commissioned new station artwork, which has been installed along the platforms, mezzanine and waiting area of the station. "Outlook," by Diane Carr, explores ideas of representation and abstraction. Carr's landscape paintings were translated to laminated hand-painted glass that highlights the native flora of the area and the geographic features such wetlands and meadows that were once dominant at this location. Carr lives and works in Brooklyn.
