Ptolemy's Map From Cosmographia (1550)

This detail of Ptolemy's Map is taken from an illustration from the work of the mathematician and cartographer Sebastian Munster (1489-1552) which was printed in Basle near the end of Munster's life. It is from his volume entitled Cosmographia which was gifted to the University of St Andrews by James Stewart (1531-70), Earl of Moray and Regent of Scotland. Regent Moray had been a student at St Leonard's College in 1545. St Andrews University Library
