Text Appearing Before Image: the tentorium cerebelli; the straight runsantero-posteriorly, in a median-line position, in the junction ofthe base of the falx cerebri with the superior surface of thetentorium cerebelli—it unites the posterior end of the inferiorlongitudinal sinus with the torcular Herophili. The torcularHerophili is the meeting of the superior longitudinal, the rightand left lateral, the right and left occipital (and the straight)sinuses, at the median-line junction of the falx cerebri andtentorium cerebelli, at the interior of the occipital bone. Theinternal jugular vein, attached to the circumference of the ex-terior of the posterior portion of the foramen lacerum posterius,presents its orifice to receive the blood collected by the intra-cranial sinuses of a side of the cranium. 37. Ophthalmic Artery.—This artery is given off from theintracranial portion of the internal carotid artery ; it runs in-feriorly to, and into the orbit by the optic foramen with, theoptic nerve (page 325).
