Description
English: Powick Old Bridge This 15th century bridge over the River Teme has a significant place in English history for is was near this bridge that the English Civil War began and ended. On the 23 September 1642, the opening action of the war took place here with the Battle of Powick Bridge, more accurately described as a skirmish. Nine years later, almost to the date on 3 September 1651, the Battle of Worcester took place near here, this was the final battle of the war with Cromwell's Parliamentarian army finally crushing the Royalist cause.
