Description

The Port George Lighthouse was built in 1888 and was originally positioned at the outer end of the town's eastern wharf. In the early 1930s, the lighthouse was relocated to its present position next to the roadside as the wharf had become unstable.

The red and white wooden pepper-shaker lighthouse is 25 feet high and is unusual as it has a red fresnel light which comes on at sunset.

Note Isle Haute in the background.

Source

I took the photo of the lighthouse from the road in the early evening.
