Summary

Description
English: Pons Pacis or 'Peace bridge' in Heemstede park 'Het Oude Slot'. The park is situated at the site of the former castle 'Heerlijkheid Heemstede', or 'Huis te Heemstede', at a strategic position on mouth of the Spaarne river on the Haarlem lake (since 1853 pumped dry and called the Haarlemmermeer polder). The bridge was built by Adrian Pauw to celebrate the Peace of Munster in 1648. Photo taken from the 'Nederhuys' or gatekeeper's entrance side of the moat around the old castle site.
