Summary

Description
English: 1. Northwestard subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate (PSP) beneath the Philippine Mobile Belt (PMB) along the East Luzon Trough (ELT) and Philippine Trenceh (PT);

2. Southeastward subduction of Sundaland Plate (SP) beneath the PMB along Manila (MT), Negros (NT), Sulu (ST), and Cotabato (CT) trenches. Trenches represent the deepest portions (dark blue) of the surrounding seas. 3. Subduction along MT and NT is interrupted by the collision of the Palawan-Mindoro Continental Block (PCB) with the PMB along the Palawan-Mindoro Collision Zone (PCZ). 4. The Philippine Fault Zone (PFZ) traverses the length of the PMB. 5. Active volcanoes generally align with the trenches.
