English: As explained in a notice in the museum, in a temple precinct in Uruk dedicated to a goddess Inanna a new temple was erected under king Kara-indash in the late 15th century BC. Figures of male and female divinities alternate in niches in its façade holding flasks overflowing with water. Water stood for fertility and prosperity as granted by the gods. |
