DescriptionPenhallam Manor moat with bridge - geograph.org.uk - 714529.jpg
English: Penhallam Manor moat with bridge. The wooden bridge is in the location of the drawbridge into the manor house in the 13th Century. Information boards and Pastscape from English Heritage http://pastscape.english-heritage.org.uk/hob.aspx?hob_id=436500 tell us the moated manor was built around 1180, more was built up to about 1300, the manor was abandoned from about 1500. The line of the walls has been reconstructed as grass covered mounds, and the moat has water round three sides of the site. See also 23988 and 505228.
