| Description |
English: The purpose built Archives New Zealand Auckland regional office was officially opened by Prime Minister Hon Helen Clark on 15 September 2007. The office is located at 95 Richard Pearse Drive, Mangere, Auckland.
A records centre had been in operation in Auckland since 1962. In 1984 the position of Auckland Regional Archivist was created and Mark Stevens was the first Regional Archivist. From 1984 to 1994 the office was initially located in the BJ Ball Building, Hardinge Street, Auckland. In 1994 the Auckland Office moved to Stoddard Place, Mount Roskill while preparations were underway for the building of new premises. When that did not eventuate, the office moved to leased premises at 525 Mt Wellington Highway in 1995. Pictured here at the official opening are Prime Minister Helen Clark & MP Judith Tizard.
