Description
English: Historic home of Etienne and Louise LaMarque in Old Mines, Missouri. The house, which was built in 1818, was bought by LaMarque in 1822. The LaMarques contributed generously to the construction of St. Joachim Catholic Church, seen in the background, which was built in 1831. The home, typical of colonial French houses of the time, is still occupied as a private residence. (c.f. Paul T. Hellmann, 2005, Historical Gazetteer of the United States, p.635; Vallé Higginbotham, 1968, John Smith T, Missouri Pioneer, p.18.)
