Summary

Description
English: Pavilion and stone monument used to measure water level in the Grand Canal, known as the Shuǐzébēi 水則碑 "Water Gauge Stele". Situated by the Ping Bridge (平桥) at the northeast corner of the Moon Lake Park. The base of the pavilion and two stone steles with the Chinese character píng 平 meaning "level" were uncovered from the mud in 1999, and have since been restored. The base of the pavilion dates to the Southern Song dynasty (c. 1259), and the stone stele seen in the picture dates to 1533 in the Ming dynasty (replacing an original Southern Song stone). Behind the 1533 stele is another water gauge stele dated to 1846 during the Qing dynasty.
