English: LNER B16/1 4-6-0 at New England Locomotive Depot.
In the yard of this great ECML ex-GN Depot, ex-NE Raven B16/1 No. 927 (pre-1946 renumbering to 1422) (built 12/20, withdrawn 9/61) rests after no doubt bringing a freight up from York. The wide variety of duties provided by the Depot, for the traffic of the vast New England Yard, along the ECML and on the ex-GE line to March etc. (after the closure of Peterborough East Depot in 4/39), required the allocation of - in 1947 - no less than 201 locomotives:- 8 4-6-2, 3 4-6-0, 3 4-4-0, 29 2-8-0 (all ex-WD), 36 2-6-2, 41 2-6-0, 52 0-6-0, 7 4-4-2T, 21 0-6-0T and 1 0-4-0T. The B16 was of course a visitor, one of many.
