DescriptionNYFD Squad Company 1 788 Union Street Park Slope.jpg
The New York City Fire Department Squad Company 1 firehouse at 788 Union Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City was formerly the station for Engine Company 269. Squad Company 1 was founded in 1955 and was located in various stations around the city before it was disbanded in 1976. Engine Company 269 had been closed during a budget crisis, but community pressure caused the city to re-open the firehouse in 1977 as the location of a newly re-established Squad Company 1. The building dates from 1900.
