This light was built in 1966 (light station was established here in 1841). This is the oldest light station on the northern coast of the province, marking the entrances to Miramachi Bay and Northumberland Strait to the south. The original lighthouse was a 18 meter (59ft) high octagonal wood tower; it survived until it was demolished in 1966.
