DescriptionMr. Moto prior to match, Anchorage, Alaska, February 1958.jpg
English: Masaru "Charlie" Iwamoto (1915-1991) was a professional wrestler known as Mr. Moto. This may be confusing if you go by what Wikipedia portrays. They insist that Mr. Moto was Tor Kamata, who actually wrestled as Dr. Moto in the Midwestern United States for a brief period in 1967 and 1968. Iwamoto wrestled mostly out of Southern California and was one of the top stars in the entire United States during the latter portion of the 1950s. He retired shortly afterward to take backstage roles with the Los Angeles-based wrestling promotion and was also a liaison between the Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance and North American wrestling promoters. In this photo, he is performing a ritual prior to a match against Sándor Szabó at the Anchorage High School gymnasium in Anchorage, Alaska in February 1958 during the Fur Rendezvous Festival. His second, William Kimura, was a member of one of Anchorage's earliest families.
