English: The David is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance sculpture, sculpted by Michelangelo from 1501 to 1504. It stood exposed to the elements in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence for nearly 370 years before it was moved for its protection to the Galleria dell’Accademia in 1873.
