Summary

Description Mt. Ruapehu (the highest point in the North Island at 2797 m.) is one of three active volcanoes in the Tongariro National Park, which is a listed dual World Heritage Area. At its foot is the impressive Chateau Tongariro hotel. Ruapehu last erupted in Sept. 2007.
