English: MinION Portable Gene Sequencer 2015, designed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies. Displayed as part of the exhibit "Designs for Different Futures" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art 2019-2020. This hand-held gene sequencer can be plugged into any computer and could enable citizen scientists or health workers in the field to collect and process scientific data in real time, collecting check swabs, plant matter or other samples.
