Si tratta della prova in bronzo per il testone (tipo di moneta) che Ludovico fece coniare nel 1497 con l'effige propria da un lato e della moglie Beatrice dall'altro, subito dopo la di lei scomparsa;[1] uno dei primi esempi di monetazione di questo tipo, testimonianza di grande amore e ammirazione nei confronti della consorte.[2]
