Native, yearlong-green, perennial, slender and tufted to mat-forming grass, to 60 cm
tall and with short, slender rhizomes. Found in many habitats. Although usually a minor component of dry open native-natural pastures, it can become dominant in shaded, moister areas, such as along forest edges and under she-oaks on river flats. Very tolerant of acid soils, exchangeable aluminium and drought.
