It's a memorial for shipman Arie Evegroen who puts his boat in front of a hole in the dyke, and called "Een dubbeltje op zijn kant". Made by Roel Bendijk in 1983. Place: Groenendijk, Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel Nederlands: Monument "Dubbeltje op zijn kant", ter herinnering aan de watersnood van februari 1953. Toen deze dijk langs de Hollandse IJssel het dreigde te begeven, werd er een boot tegenaan gezet om het water tegen te houden. |
