DescriptionMalcolm Story statue - Bozeman Montana - 2013-07-09 (9376692593).jpg
Looking south at the statue of Malcolm Story, standing in front of the former entrance of the old Gallatin County High School, 404 W. Main Street, Bozeman, Montana.
Malcolm Story was the grandson of Bozeman founding father Nelson C. Story. (Nelson Story also co-founded Montana State University.) In his later years, Story would walk around downtown Bozeman in overalls, Stetson, and brilliant red plaid jacket -- his mustache impeccably waxed.
The statue was designed by Jim Dolan and commissioned by the American Land Title Company in 1995 (the year after Story died) to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The company got the idea for a statue from the Wally Byam Caravan Club, which makes a civic donation to every community it visits.
