Smithsonian SIRIS Control Number: IAS 76007630, with description "The sculpture was a gift of George C. Hawley in memory of his wife Theodora M. Hawley. Inside the base there is a chest containing newspapers, coins, mementoes, and a picture of Mrs. Hawley. For additional information see the Knickerbocker Press (Albany, NY), June 14, 1925. The inscription on a plaque located in the ground in front of the sculpture reads: PRESENTED IN LOVING MEMORY OF/HIS WIFE THEODORA M. HAWLEY TO THE/CITY OF ALBANY, BY GEORGE C. HAWLEY/MCMXXV/CITIZENS' COMMITTEE/HON. WM. S. HACKETT, MAYOR FRANK B. GRAVES/HON. WM. E. WOOLLARD DR. ARTHUR W. ELTING.".
