Description

On 23 March 1907, R 28 was operating the Boat Train between Christchurch and Lyttelton, New Zealand when it over-ran the stop-block on Lyttelton wharf. The driving frame, wheels, and engine fell into the water but as depicted in the picture, the rest of the locomotive stayed on the wharf.
