English: Lt .Col. John F. Sullivan conceived of converting a World War II seaplane tender into a floating aircraft repair ship for use off Vietnam. The USS Albemarle was refitted and rechristened the USNS Corpus Christi Bay. It served off Vietnam for 6 1/2 years.
