DescriptionLooking NW out main gate - Prospect Hill Cemetery - 2014.jpg
English: Looking northwest out the main gate at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C., in the United States in 2014.
Prospect Hill Cemetery was added to the Register of Historic Places of the District of Columbia (a listing of historic sites maintained by the city) in 2005.
The cemetery's main gate was originally opposite what is now called Chapel Circle on the east side of the cemetery, at Lincoln Road NE. After a 12-year battle, North Capitol Street was cut through the cemetery on the west side. About 1927, the current main gate on North Capitol Street was erected.
