Summary

Description
English: Lloyds Bank in Queen Square (detail 1), Wolverhampton. Lloyds Bank (now Lloyds TSB) was built in an Italianate style in 1879. The building was designed by the architect J.A. Chatwin who designed the Wolverhampton Art Gallery. The facade includes three panel friezes depicting agriculture and industry, carved from Portland stone by Mr. Carter from the Cheltenham firm of Boulton and Company, who also did similar work at the same time on the art gallery.

This left hand panel shows shows a scene in a coal mine complete with cage, winding gear and coal truck. http://tinyurl.com/ccpmf6
