Description
English: This true-color image of Hurricane Laura off the coast of Louisiana was captured on August 26, 2020, at 7:51 P.M. CDT (23:51 UTC), by the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) instrument flying aboard NOAA's GOES 16 satellite. Laura was a destructive and vigorous hurricane, and one of many storms of the record-breaking 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. Laura would go on and make landfall near Lake Charles, Louisiana a few hours later devastating areas at or around the area. When this was captured Laura was over the Gulf of Mexico at its peak intensity as a high-end Category 4 hurricane, with winds of 150 mph (240 km/h) (130 knots) on the 1-min Saffir-Simpson scale and had a minimum central pressure of 937 mbar (27.7 inHg).
