Summary

Description The Langen Foundation building is an architectural gem located on the site of the former NATO missile station Hombroich in Neuss. The futuristic building was designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Andō and blends harmoniously into the surrounding nature. It consists of a combination of smooth concrete walls, generous glass surfaces and curved lines that create a unique aesthetic. It houses an impressive art collection and functions as an art and cultural centre at the same time. It offers an inspiring space for contemporary art exhibitions, lectures and cultural events. The spacious interiors are minimalist in design and let in plenty of natural light, highlighting the exhibits and the atmosphere of the place. Surrounded by a sculpture garden, the Langen Foundation combines art, architecture and nature in one location. The building exudes a calm and meditative atmosphere, inviting visitors to discover the artworks in all their glory and to be inspired by the beauty of the place. Today's Museum Insel Hombroich was originally conceived as a military facility and its grounds were transformed into an extraordinary centre for art and culture after the end of the Cold War. Today it houses a variety of buildings designed by renowned architects. These buildings serve as exhibition spaces, studios, workshops, libraries and event venues.
