Description
English: One of the terracota figurines (fragment) from Indus Valley Civilisation collection. Quite a large number of terracotta human figurines have been excavated in IVC archeological sites. Many of them represent females, which - according to the collection description - are considered as a some kind of the manifestation of the great mother goddess. These females are depicted in standing position, commonly adorned with the girdle, often with a loin-cloth, nearly always with the necklace and a fan shaped head-dress. The face features and the modeling are schematic, made by adding clay clumps.
