English: Lady Ann Middleton's Hotel The building has been a hotel since 1973, but was originally built as Lady Ann Middleton's Hospital. A statue of the lady stands above the main doorway. Lady [or Dame] Ann bestowed £2000 for its erection and endowment. In this hospital 22 widows of poor firemen had dwellings, each of them having an annual income of £5/16s/0d. The present building dates from 1829 and is a rebuild of the original.
