Burana Tower is a topless (thanks to an earthquake in the 15th century that knocked off the upper half) minaret supposedly from the 11th century but largely reflects the restoration done by the Soviets in the 1950’s. The tower is all that remains of the ancient citadel of Balasagun founded by the Sogdians.
The yurt (traditional Kyrgyz nomadic housing) is a souvenir stand. The snow on the yurt and on the mountains is fresh.
