English: Kuils River was founded on the VOC cattle depot De Kuilen, some fifteen miles from the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town. The milestone now stands in the lobby of the Kuils River Municipal Buildings.
This media shows a South African Protected Site with SAHRA file reference 9/2/054/0003.
Outside the Municipal Buildings is a cannon found on the farm Skoonheid (Beauty) or Asiakop by the bros. Van der Westhuizen and donated to the town on 29 May 1972. It bears the municipal coat-of-arms as well. It is mounted on a face brick base shaped as the Castle of Good Hope.
