View northward, towards Gloucester, Cheltenham etc.; ex-GWR Swindon - Gloucester main line. In 1962 there were also branches from Kemble to Cirencester (to the right, closed 4/64 - goods 10/65) and Tetbury (to the left, closed 4/64). The train is the 14.00 Cheltenham St James - Swindon, headed by D7001, one of the first Beyer-Peacock (Hymek) Type 3 1,700hp B-B Diesel-hydraulics, introduced in 5/61; 100 were built and they were employed widely over the Western Region.
