Description
English: From FloridaMemory.com (public domain): Born November 15, 1843. Enlisted on August 20, 1861 and promoted to 3rd Sgt on March 1, 1862. Wounded in the left leg, hand and side while leading a charge July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. He was sent to Fort McHenry prison where his left leg and left thumb were amputated. Despite his absence he was promoted to captain on September 4, 1863. Paroled March 3, 1864 then exchanged and furloughed. He remained in Florida due to his injuries and was assigned as enrolling officer June 14, 1864 in Quincy. He was made a Post Commander in Tallahassee in March of 1865 and paroled there on May 13, 1865. Later served as treasurer of City of Tallahassee.
