Summary

Description
English: Mighty toothless one. Skull and lower jaw of a very rare dicynodont that has an unusually pointed parrot-like "beak". The pitted texture of the bone around the snout and over the lower jaws shows that these parts were covered with keratin, similar to tortoises today. Dinanomodon's parrotbeak was probably an adaptation to browsing rather than grazing. It would have been useful for grabbing Glossopteris branches and holding them against the tusks. Then, with a sideways movement of the head, the leaves could be stripped off and eaten, leaving the branches behind to carry on growing
