Description	Picture of Juanita McNeely's painting Is it Real? Yes it is! (1969) at the Whitney Museum in New York, in 2023. A series of nine variably sized rectangular paintings are arranged closely together in a grid on a gallery wall, with the center painting square and larger than the others. The paintings are grotesquely rendered images of women giving birth, receiving abortion care, and transforming into skeletons or being eaten by birds. The central painting shows a woman laying back on a hospital bed in the middle of an operation of some kind.
