It is a bit late for National Book Day which fell in the past week, but for those who love books every day is National Book Day! ...And indeed today's eagle-eyes were trained on the bookshelves, spotting 19th century books on farming and animal husbandry. However, it is the shelves and the walls themselves that help us date this photograph. As it seems that this part of Howth Castle was built to designs of architect Edwin Lutyens in 1910/1911. And so this image dates to no earlier than 1911 - and possibly a few years after it.
