English: Monument to Henry Bell on West Clyde Street Helensburgh, Inscribed "Erected in 1872 to the memory of Henry Bell. The first in Great Britain who was successful in practically applying steam powers for the purpose of navigation. Born in the county of Linlithgow in 1766. Died in Helelsburgh in 1830". Bell built the Paddle Steamer Comet in 1812, the first commercial steam boat in Europe.
