Description
English: Commissioned by Orla Lehmann, this painting portrays Ernst Schimmelmann (at the right), his wife Charlotte, and the poet Jens Baggesen. It was supposed to depict the time around 1806: Baggesen stands with his benefactors at the Emilie Fountain on Strandvejen below the country house Sølyst near Klampenborg. The Emilie Fountain was created by Nicolai Abildgaard as a classic monument to Schimmelmann's first wife who died in 1780.
