Summary

Description
English: Pictured is the Royal Norwegian Navy frigate HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl whilst taking part in exercises with HMS Lancaster.

On Thursday 25th March 2021, HMS Lancaster left the shelter of the Norwegian Fjords to conduct maritime operations in UK waters.

The previous three days have seen the Type 23 Frigate from Portsmouth enjoy beautiful scenery whilst at anchor and also enabled the ship's company to relax after some high tempo exercises and training that have been conducted in the last month.

On sailing from the Fjord, HMS Lancaster conducted some close proximity sailing with the Norwegian frigate Thor before conducting a sail past marking the conclusion of exercising with the allied nation.

HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl is one of four Fridtjof Nansen-class frigates which are the main surface combatant units of the Royal Norwegian Navy. They were built with a primary focus on anti-submarine warfare (ASW) but then evolved into a more multi-role vessel to include air defence.
