DescriptionGrüne Bibliothek Schloss Elisabethenburg Green library Meiningen.jpg
English: The Green Library Exhibition presents more than half of the collection of historic musical instruments at the Meiningen Museums. During the Second World War, the precious Ducal private library was lost, resulting in the library furnishings losing their purpose by being hidden away in the castle’s archives and attic for 40 years. However, the room that was decorated by Duke Georg II in 1896 has been restored to its former glory. The striking ensemble featuring a decorated ceiling, bookcases measuring 3 meters in height, and elaborate tapestries, can now be viewed as part of the permanent
exhibition of the collection of musical instruments. Erwin Stache‘s interactive sound installation allows visitors to musically experience the exhibition.
