Photograph of an oil painting of Geraldine Rockefeller (Ethel Geraldine Rockefeller, the daughter of Almira Geraldine Goodsell Rockefeller and William Rockefeller) by Friedrich August von Kaulbach in 1906 -- about the time of her engagement, prior to her marriage to Marcellus Hartley Dodge, Sr.. In later life she was known as Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge. This portrait now resides in Dodge Room, among the collection of the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey. She was a great philanthropist, benefactor to community, natural resource, and nonprofit efforts, an author, founder of an internationally recognized dog club and show, breeder and judge of dogs, the founder of a refuge for injured animals, and a benefactor to and collector of fine art. She left eighty-five million dollars for the establishment of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, which continues her works.
