Summary

Description
English: Bounds and approximations to the median of the gamma distribution. The true median (calculated numerically via the Matlab function gammaincinv) is the dash-dot curve. Lower bounds are dashed; upper bounds are solid. The dotted lines are asymptotic approximations that have not been shown to be bounds. Upper and lower bounds from Chen and Rubin 1986, Berg and Pedersen 2006, and Gaunt and Merkle 2021 are shown. The cyan region indicates the gap between the tightest published upper and lower bounds.
