Summary

Description The only road into the Maderan valley to Bristen was broken by a rock and landslide. For the inhabitants there is only a steep footpath or supply by helicopters. As makeshift, the 97 years old funicular of the power station Amsteg will be put into operation again. This has already been done in 2003 in a similar situation. Since then it was not used anymore. Tests and repairs have to be done now first. Also the cable is X-rayed and it takes a few more days. If everything is satisfactory, 20 passengers and 1 accompanying staff can be transported per ride from the middle of next week. The cable car has a length of 410 meters and a maximum gradient of 92%. The ride from the power station to the surge chamber Schiltwald along the large pressure lines takes about 6 minutes. These lines are no longer in operation. Switzerland, March 10, 2017.
