Description The French destroyer Volta (X62) underway off Portsmouth, England (UK), on 8 August 1939, with French Amiral de la flotte (Admiral of the Fleet) Jean François Darlan embarked. He came to England to confer with British officers concerning Naval dispositions for a prospective war with Germany. Flying from Volta's masthead is Darlan's Amiral de la flotte flag, the French tricolor with crossed anchors in the center.
