This beautiful pawpaw species, endemic only to Palm Beach, Martin & St. Lucie Counties, is critically imperiled. Habitat loss, fire suppression, human disturbance and loss of pollinators have left it endangered and rare. The above plant is living and blooming happily deep in the oak scrub upon ancient Pleistocene sand dunes.
