English: Foundation species enhance food web complexity Illustration of the methods. (A) Seven ecosystems (including coastal (blue border), freshwater (yellow border) and terrestrial (green border)) were sampled (B) food webs were constructed, for both bare and foundation species-dominated replicate areas. (C) Finally, from each foundation species structured-food web we randomly removing nodes (i.e. species) until the species number matched the species number of the bare food webs within the 95% CI per ecosystem. |
